The failure of the Chinese auto industry in China itself. Why don’t Chinese people want to drive Chinese cars?

An amazing thing is that the Chinese themselves do not want to buy Chinese cars, but prefer to import auto products from Korea, Japan, the United States and Europe. There is a very good difference in such trends – while the Americans and Europeans, importing a huge number of Japanese and Korean cars, are primarily chasing cheapness, then Chinese motorists, who prefer foreign cars, are interested only in the quality, which their own car manufacturers are simply not able to give them.

The Chinese auto industry is trying to make its way into the Russian car market

Recently, I read an article in a newspaper by an automotive expert in which he claimed that more than half of Chinese car enthusiasts prefer to buy cars made in America, Europe, and Japan.

And I wondered: Are Chinese cars so bad that the Chinese themselves refuse them?

In general, I flipped through the information from other sources and saw that yes – the Chinese themselves prefer foreign cars, and the number of such “refuseniks” and “non-patriots” is not even “more than half”, but almost two-thirds!

In short, here’s the data I found.

The share of Chinese-made cars in China is only 38%. In 2023, 25% of European cars and 23% of Japanese cars were sold in China. The remaining 14% are American, Korean and other cars. By the way, as of January 2024, the percentage of “patriots” is even lower – about 30%, but one month is not an indicator.

Although these data are not very new, they nevertheless perfectly reflect the situation of the Chinese domestic car market

That’s how fegnya is, malyata (c). It turns out that foreign ill-wishers of the Chinese car industry are somewhat right when they assert that Chinese cars are not allowed on the car market in Europe and America not for political reasons, but because the quality of the “Chinese” does not correspond to civilized norms.

Wait, where are the billions and trillions of Chinese cars that are produced in China sold? Didn’t they all flood into Russia in connection with the cessation of Western imports to our country?

To cut a long story short, I started scrolling through all sorts of information again and again found interesting information. It turns out that the Chinese auto industry has not flooded into Russia. The Belarusian, Kazakh, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Azerbaijani, Georgian and even Arab (UAE) car industries flooded into Russia. True, the brands of cars that get to Russia in this way are mainly produced in Germany, Japan and Korea, but there is nothing surprising here. Imports will always find a way to get into a country to which their inflow is restricted for political reasons.

A new Chinese car. Junk or not trash?

But that’s not even the point. The Russian market itself will figure out which cars are profitable for our motorist. When foreign automakers began to leave our country, the Chinese decided that their finest hour had come and raised their prices for their trash. However, last year they suffered a complete fiasco – this junk of theirs turned out to be not very popular in Russia, and so “not very much” that Chinese car dealers had to arrange cheap sales.

But even so, not a single Chinese model managed to make it to the top sales (real, not “official”). For reference, in January 2024, only about 30 thousand ALL “Chinese” were sold in Russia, against 22 thousand only for the domestic brand “Lada”. But it is not only AvtoVAZ that produces cars in our country, and not only the Chinese are so smart, because in Russia the secondary car market is 10 times more powerful than all Chinese imports. Against this background, the Chinese car industry is generally lost in the twilight, because no one needs used Chinese cars for nothing.

This is how it is – the domestic secondary car market

Okay, let’s find out where the billions and trillions of new Chinese cars go if they don’t make it to America and Europe, and the market in Russia is not very attractive for them either.

Well, there is no secret here – these are the densely populated countries of Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Latin America and even Africa. Only there can a low-quality Chinese product have a sufficiently wide distribution. After all, it is clear that in these essentially impoverished states, no one will buy a high-quality Chinese car, so the Chinese have become adept at producing cheap trash for such markets.

And in China itself, they will not buy junk – this is how 62% of Chinese motorists appeared, who prefer not to buy this junk, but prefer to buy a good product in Korea, Japan, Germany and America.

But, of course, in China, too, not only the rich like to drive their own cars, that’s where these 38% of “patriots” who have money only for junk bought by all sorts of Arabs, Indians, Mexicans and Malays dance.

The most popular model in the secondary car market of Russia is Lada-2107

That’s how I found out why the Chinese, when they produce junk, manage to sell it in billions and trillions of pieces around the world. There is always a demand for junk, and the Chinese have the foresight to take over the entire car market of the impoverished third world. I just wonder if our domestic motorists will be tempted by this rubbish, or the Celestial Empire will soon suffer the same fiasco in Russia as it suffered in America and Europe.

I think that our people will not bite at the trash, and whoever says that our domestic car product is no good for the domestic market, let him throw a stone at someone.
