The Story of Heinrich Himmler: How a Nazi Created an Aryan Race from SS Members
The history of Nazi Germany is a mixture of bloody crimes and the iron logic of maniacs who managed to seize power. Its typical hero is Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Hitler’s right-hand man and Reichsführer SS. This lover of military history and Jew-hater tried to put the doctrine of the master race into practice without waiting for the victory of the Third Reich. Here’s his story.
In the summer of 1936, the burghers of the old town of Quedlinburg observed a strange scene: near the medieval church on Castle Hill, a thousand high-ranking SS officers in black ironed uniforms and polished boots were standing. Fascist flags and eagles flew on the church, the orchestra played a march, and in front of all of them, Heinrich Himmler in a black helmet shouted loudly: “As a tree withers if the roots are removed, so people fall if they do not honor their ancestors!”

What did the supreme Nazi forget in the Catholic Church? Himmler despised Christianity, a religion that called for help to the infirm and accepted the Jew as the son of God. But it was not for this reason that the head of the SS staged a parade at the ancient cathedral. He was not interested in religion, but in the tomb of the 10th-century German king Henry I.
Heinrich fell in love with history thanks to his father, a schoolteacher Josef Himmler, and his devout mother, Anna Maria. And although they did not succeed with the religion of compassion, as we know, the parents hammered the passion for history into their son. Heinrich was especially fond of the dark fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and others with an abundance of blood and cruelty.
At the age of 10, Heinrich Himmler knew all the battles of ancient Germany, Ancient Rome and types of weapons, and was not inferior to his school teachers. Since he had friends at school – Heinrich liked to snitch on his comrades – he delved deeper into history books and was transported into a world of absolute cruelty and heroism.

Himmler joined the Nazi Party in the summer of 1923, and when Hitler’s book Mein Kampf came out two years later, he pounced on it like an animal. The extravagant doctrine of the ancient Aryan race, which cleanses the earth of evil spirits and lives in the Germans, was superimposed in the Reichsführer SS on the love of German kings, Teutonic knights and gloomy fairy tales.
And when he became head of the SS, he began to build the highest caste of Nazis on this Aryan irreproachability of the rulers of the world. For Himmler, his SS men were human cattle that had to breed the Aryans. The SS developed a Nordic passport, where each candidate was examined for matching Aryan traits, tall stature, and blond hair.
Those who got into the SS found themselves in the upper German world. The fashionable uniforms were sewn by the fashionable company Hugo Boss, and in their black suits with silver, the SS men differed sharply from the brown uniforms of the storm troopers and the gray uniforms of the Wehrmacht. There was a skull and crossbones on their caps as a sign of death, and the SS men were transported by official cars, while the rest of the Nazis were transported by trains and trams.
Himmler made the SS men fashionable blondes to attract German women
As Himmler said, all this increased the attractiveness of German women, because it was the duty of the SS to breed Aryans. As the head of a dog breeding farm, the Reichsführer-SS created a system for mating and breeding Aryans. All brides had to hand over documents of racial impeccability of themselves and their ancestors in order to create an SS family.
“If the Germans succeed in reviving the Nordic race in Germany,” he said at conferences, “and producing 200 million children, the world will belong to us.” In 1936, he founded a major SS scientific institute, where he hired 120 German scientists to study the past and teach the SS the customs of their ancestors.
By breeding the SS with one hand and exterminating Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs in concentration camps with the other, Himmler was playing his teenage fantasies as if in a game, treating people as pawns.
